  A couple of days ago I was pleasantly surprised by the announcement that the Central Bank of Nigeria  ( CBN ), has released the modalities for the operation of the 26.87 billion Naira Agri-Business Small and Medium Enterprises Investment Scheme (AGSMEIS) which was approved by the Bankers Committee at their meeting held in February this year (2017). They agreed under the persuasion of the CBN to set aside 5% of their Profit after Tax (PAT) annually to create an equity fund with which they will invest in Agri-Businesses and Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs), including start-ups. FGN: PERFECTING THE ART OF PURSUING SHADOWS

There is trouble in the land. Anywhere you look there is consternation. The people of Nigeria are unhappy. Government seems to be failing in its critical responsibilities to the citizens. Many Nigerians had very difficult Christmas and new year celebrations because of a suffocating fuel scarcity. President Muhammadu Buhari (PMB) threatened to find out the so called saboteurs who caused the terrible fuel scarcity that disrupted the peace of most Nigerians over the Christmas / New year celebrations and to punish them severely. He made this threat in his new year address to the Nation on the 1st of January 2018. Firstly, I was not minded to take him seriously as it is common for government officials to manufacture " enemies" to explain away their failures. NIGERIA : A FAKE NATION OR A NATION OF FAKES?

Nigeria is an intriguing nation. A 58- year adult nation that is still crawling like a toddler, while most of its mates are running on sure feet. Many people including political, traditional and religious leaders have expressed their bewilderment with Nigeria's chronic inability to truly rise. Never mind that a tiny minority including some who earn 12 billion Naira as annual dividend will argue differently that Nigeria is rising.
